WDHA’s Reconnect With Rockers With Brent Smith From Shinedown (ZOOM Video)
Brent Smith has been a cherished friend of mine for over 20 years. Over time you get to know someone and understand where they come from. Brent always comes from a place of good. No….I correct that- Brent comes from a place of GREAT.
I first met Brent and the band in the early 2000s when they came with guitars to jam on my show live from “Pops BBQ” in Madison New Jersey. Now, they play the biggest festivals in the world and Brent is the same guy who jammed at Pops before their debut “Leave A Whisper” came out.
I have been involved with the American Foundation For Suicide Prevention for four years and Shinedown has been involved with AFSP for much longer. When I decided to reach out this year and see if the band would help me spread the word about my Essex County walk on October 29th at Verona Park in Verona New Jersey Brent’s team (Thank you Adam and Phil!) got back to me in record time with a resounding “Yes….what do you need”?
The band sent the most amazing “Limited Edition Revolutions Live” tour poster signed by each band member, only 150 were produced and NOT for sale! Pretty awesome! AND Brent was so anxious to jump on a Zoom and talk about the band’s involvement with AFSP, why they have always been open about mental health and personal challenges, of course, the upcoming WDHA show at Prudential Center on 9/24 and much more – (including the gift of Grandma’s Smith’s inspiration)
Brent is family and I thank him for his honesty, generosity, and time- (and for such a fun interview hang).
To join the team or donate if you can’t walk – AFSP Team Rock N’ Ruff– Walk with us on 10/29 and you will qualify for the posters!
Thanks for the time Brent and to our listening family for your support! This interview will make you feel GOOD! It did it for me!
