NEW YORK, NY - APRIL 07: 2013 Inductees Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee of Rush and 2017 Inductee Jeff Ament of Pearl Jam perform onstage at the 32nd Annual Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony at Barclays Center on April 7, 2017 in New York City. The event will broadcast on HBO Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 8:00 pm ET/PT

Pearl Jam has had a long and interesting career. There were changes in the drumming department several times. Their sound has gone in several different directions. They even fought with a large corporation about ticket prices. Nonetheless, here in Jersey, we love our Pearl Jam. I recently asked for my favorite Pearl Jam songs on First Call Last Call. So Let’s take a look at 5 Awesome Pearl Jam Songs According To New Jersey!

First Call Last Call is a feature that I do each weekday at 5 pm. I pose a question and based on listener responses at the DHA Facebook page I put together a block of music. So it was exciting to see when listeners sounded off with their favorite songs by the band. The earlier stuff was what got the most attention. Then the more modern Pearl Jam came in. I would say the middle period of the band with more of the folk sound is what came in last.

That middle period wasn’t bad at all. It had some really bright spots. I Am Mine is one of my favorite songs by the band and they had much success with their fans. But I think overall, people like it when they rock a bit more. It will be interesting to see which direction they go on Dark Matter. The single is dark and heavy sounding. It could have been a B-side to Vs. And I like it a lot.

Overall Pearl Jam is a band that’s able to do it all. They can play mellow ballads but they can also write tunes that fill up an arena and make people want to sing! It’s kind of a hard feat to accomplish, but they seem to know what they’re doing lol!

Let’s take a look at 5 Awesome Pearl Jam Songs According To New Jersey!

  • REARVIEW MIRROR

This song is upbeat and gets the adrenaline going. It’s also about leaving that person you don’t need in the rearview!

  • THE FIXER

This one was a throwback to that old-school Pearl Jam sound.  A little more rocking and it was fun.  Pearl Jam can be fun, not just dark and dreary!

  • ALIVE

Grunge that could fill an arena.  Pearl Jam didn’t put out a lot of videos, but this was a cool performance one.

  • BETTER MAN

The woman in this song knows someone out there is better suited for her, but sometimes it’s hard to leave.  This resonates with many of us.  Male or female.

  • SIRENS

An emotional down tempo tune that moves you.  You can hear the feelings through Eddie’s vocal performance.  Such a killer tune!
