Here in New Jersey, we love Shinedown. In fact in the Spring, when we run our Rock Madness brackets to find our listener’s favorite band, Shinedown has taken the crown several years. I thought we can dive a little deeper today and look at 5 Songs New Jersey Shinedown fans love.
It was Brent Smith’s birthday yesterday, so I wanted to celebrate on the air. I have a feature at 5PM called First Call Last Call. It’s a themed block of music for your ride home. It’s put together based on the responses to the question of the day at the DHA Facebook page.
Yesterday, I mentioned how it was Brent’s Birthday and I asked What Shinedown song you could put on repeat and never tire of. Of course, I got some great responses. Shinedown has a great catalog and it’s not only the hits that are good. Their deep cuts are fantastic as well!
I think what makes them such an interesting and exciting band to listen to is the fact that they are so versatile. They can have a song which is a straight up heavy banger and then follow it up with a melodic ballad with emotional lyrics that resonate with so many.
Of course, the musicianship and playing in the band doesn’t hurt their sound either. If you’ve ever seen them live, you know how tight they are and how spot on they consistently sound. And Brent has one of the greatest voices in rock. It’s powerful, it’ soulful, it’s moldable into what the song calls for. And it just always works so well.
They are a lot of fun to listen to and I loved reading through the responses of what DHA listeners think is their best song.
