Pat DiNizio and Jim Monaghan Write A Song Live On the Air
If you’ve ever tried to write a song, you know how difficult it can be.
Oh sure…anyone can grab a rhyming dictionary and put “moon…June…spoon” together, but to actually write something that is worth listening to takes a lot of hard work.
Not to mention talent.
And let’s not forget that we’re not all Steven Tyler writing “Dream On” while still a teenager. Or Paul McCartney literally pulling “Get Back” out of thin air as we saw in the recent Beatles documentary by Peter Jackson.
Back in 2004, the late Pat DiNizio from the Smithereens stopped by WDHA to sit in with Jim Monaghan. As always, Pat asked Jim to make sure that he had his guitar with him.
Long a fan of Pat’s songwriting, Jim took a chord progression he had floating around and played it for Pat, who then took the ball and ran with it.
Jim played the segment for Pat’s former bandmates Dennis Diken and Jim Babjak when they dropped into WDHA to celebrate the release of their new Lost album.
