Jersey Magazine 11-20-22
Each week on the Jersey Magazine we pick topics of local interest to our listeners. This week, Jim Monaghan talks baseball with Governor Livingston High School coach Chris Roof and Stetson University head coach Steve Trimper. Plus we replay Jim’s interview with local musician Chris D’Amico about a benefit show this coming Saturday.
It may be November, but this is the time of year when baseball coaches traditionally start to gather at various events to share ideas. On Friday December 9, some of the best college coaches in the game will be at the Garden State Baseball Coaches Clinic at Gamers Academy in Kenilworth.
Governor Livingston High School head coach Chris Roof is organizing this year’s event and the lineup of speakers is impressive – Steve Owens (Rutgers), Rob Sheppard (Seton Hall), Steve Trimper (Stetson), and more.
Chris and Steve joined Jim Monaghan on the Jersey Magazine to talk about this year’s event which is geared to helping coaches of all levels – youth, high school, travel, and club.

Chris D’Amico is back for a return visit here on the Jersey Magazine. As the president of D’Amico Entertainment, Chris D’Amico has performed at hundreds of weddings, parties, corporate events, and more. On November 26th, his new musical project is performing at a dual charity event at the Ringside Pub in Caldwell. The two charities are the Dean Michael Clarizio Cancer Foundation and Kindness For Christopher.
Chris talks about the special components of both charities, each of which has deep personal significance for him.
This week on Rock N’ Ruff, we welcome Cash from the Randolph Regional Animal Shelter. Cash is fun, athletic, affectionate, goofy & he loves to play ball! Cash is friendly with everyone, knows some basic commands & seems to bond quickly to the people he knows. He walks well on a leash and is a perfect passenger in a car. Cash has quickly become a staff & volunteer favorite at the shelter!
COACH SHEETS’ RIDE IN – Jeremy Sheetinger is the head baseball coach at Georgia Gwinnett College where he led the Grizz Gang to the 2021 NAIA National Championship. His weekly “fire me up” tweet every Thursday may, on the surface, be geared toward his fellow baseball coaches, but his motivational message can easily be applied to the classroom, workplace, and your personal relationships. This week, Coach Sheets talks about not being the smartest (or dumbest) person in the room, but the most curious.
🚘 HOW ‘BOUT THAT RIDE IN? 🚘
— Jeremy Sheetinger | Sheets (@CoachSheets3) November 17, 2022
Walking into a room of like-minded people, we can choose to be the:
• Smartest - check your ego at the door!
• Dumbest - no one has time for that…
Or the most CURIOUS!
Ask better questions, listen to understand!!
