Mike’s 5 Easy Tips To Stick To Your New Year’s Resolutions!
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA - SEPTEMBER 22: Casper Ruud of Team Europe warms up in the gym during day one of the Laver Cup at Rogers Arena on September 22, 2023 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
With the new year, we have the hope of some really positive things happening and some fun to be had as well! Of course, many of us come up with a Resolution or two that we hope will last the whole year through. For that to actually happen though, we need help. So I’m bringing you a list of 5 Easy Tips to stick to your New Year’s Resolutions!
We have the best of intentions at the end of December. We’re going to kick that smoking habit. Maybe become a more organized person. Or stop drinking so much soda and possibly shed a few pounds. But for as much steam as we have come January 1st, we simply start to lose it, not that far into the new year.
It’s so easy to fall back into our old ways. And let’s face it – if getting in shape is your resolution, we all know having some pizza is much more fun that a salad. But despite these thoughts and obstacles, there are some ways to stay determined and actually pull off sticking to our resolution for the long term. Let’s take a look at 5 easy tips to stick to your New Year’s Resolutions!
- PLAN OUT YOUR RESOLUTION
Think about short and long term goals and do research if necessary. Don’t just think you’re going to wake up New Year’s Day and everything will be lined up. Since we’re already in the new year, you can plan out some goals now!
- DON’T TRY AND TACKLE TOO MUCH
You’re not going to drop 80 pounds in 3 weeks. Think about it in small attainable steps.
- LIMIT YOUR RESOLUTIONS
We’ve already kicked off the year. If you are planning on holding on to six different resolutions, you might get a little overwhelmed. Why not pick one main objective and go at it hard.
- BUILD A SUPPORT SYSTEM
This can be friends, family, your significant other. Tell them your goal and have them hold you accountable or at least be there for you when you just need to vent or want some advice.
- STAY POSITIVE
You might start to think about what foods you’ll miss out on if you’re trying to eat better. Or maybe you’ll focus on how sore you’ll be after hitting the gym for a few days. Instead of focusing on the negative, try and refocus with a good outlook on things – For instance, you’ll have more energy and confidence when you drop 10 pounds or you’ll have better cardiovascular and muscular strength by going to your workouts!
Good luck this year with your Resolution. I hope 2024 brings you success!

That said, the holidays are behind us. And many of us probably indulged or over-indulged on cookies, candy, and a few big dinners that may have added on a couple of extra pounds. But why start now? Well, the beginning of the year gives us a good point of reference to look back on at the end of 2024 to see how far we’ve come on our journey.
Also, Summer will be here fairly soon (time sure does fly). And we all would love to at least feel comfortable on the beach or by the swimming pool. So, starting a few regular exercises can help tone us, get us healthier cardiovascular-wise, and give us some confidence for when we have on our bathing suit.
I’m not saying we all need six-pack abs or have to look like supermodels on the cover of fitness magazines. But wouldn’t it be nice to not feel self-conscious when you change into your swimwear?
Again, I AM NOT A DOCTOR. I can’t stress that enough. So, before you start doing these exercises, speak to your physician first.

Mike is all about having fun each afternoon. He brings you concert tickets, some fun trivia, and of course the best bands. Other interests outside of being at WDHA are drums, movies, and my family. Also, like most radio personalities, he loves live music. There's nothing like a live show to hype him up! His all-time favorite band is Metallica. But according to him, the list of others is pretty lengthy.
