Author Matthew Bocchi on the Jolt
Matthew Bocchi was nine years old on September 11, 2001, the last day he saw his father alive.
Following the attacks on the World Trade Center, he began an obsessive quest to find out exactly how his father had died. While researching video tapes, pictures, blogs, anything that could potentially answer a question loomed in his mind: was his father one of the jumpers?
Matt has just published his first book, Sway. The first memoir told by a child of 9/11, Matt intimately delves into the psychological and emotional torment that ensued after his father’s death. Matt’s heartbreaking story includes sexual abuse at the hands of a relative, and a downward spiral into years of drug abuse.
Now 28 years old and sober, Matt has a message of hope and resilience that he shared with Jim and JoHo on the WDHA Morning Jolt.
