If you’re that parent slaving over the sewing machine for your kid’s costume, or you’re going to be the one roaming up and down the aisles of that Halloween costume store on Monday, just know that we feel your pain.
Halloween is one of the all-time GREAT holidays for kids. Think about it – for 364 days of the year, kids are told by their parents not to accept candy from strangers.

And that’s just the adults that we’re talking about there.
Some kids spend weeks planning their costume. Which means the parents better have the debit card ready.

My 5-year old is going to be a witch for Halloween. But she doesn’t want to wear a hat. No wig, either. The black dress? Too itchy. Oh, and she’s not down with green makeup. The only part of the costume she actually likes is the broom. Thus, my 5-year-old is going to be a janitor for Halloween.
Thoughts and prayers, please, for my son who just told me the star was “a little off” on the cape I’m sewing for his f’ing halloween costume.
Ah yes…Halloween. Last week, my kid wanted to be a princess. Yesterday, she said she wants to be a witch. By the time next Monday rolls around, I am sure she will come up with an idea for a costume so niche there is no way the Spirit Halloween store can provide it.
