WDHA’s 2-Minute Drill – Has “Hard Knocks” Actually Made Aaron Rodgers Likeable
Jim Monaghan and the Junior Executive Producer Chris Swendeman here on the DHA Morning Jolt.
JIM MONAGHAN – Friday morning means the 2-Minute Drill. We’ve got both NFL teams in action in preseason games, Tonight it’s the Giants and Lions, and Saturday, the Jets and Panthers. Swendeman, we were actually talking about this earlier, watching Hard Knocks with the Jets, I think they’ve done nearly impossible. They’ve made Aaron Rodgers appear likable.
CHRIS SWENDEMAN – I agree. The people at NFL Films are near miracle workers because they have made Aaron Rodgers look like you really would enjoy hanging out with him. And I never got that sense from him in Green Bay. But now he’s gotten to New York and maybe it’s the big city, the bright lights, the metropolitan area that we’re in, but he really looks like he’s having a good time. And he had this thing on his face. I didn’t know what it was at first. It’s actually a smile!
JM – He does look like he’s having a good time. And it is translating over to the rest of the team. They’re all throwing no-look passes and they’re really enjoying themselves. And that’s not something that I think you could say about the Jets in the last few years.
CS – No, not at all. I mean, when was the last time, other than that guy Joe Namath who you could say you could look starstruck? When you look at the quarterback leading the team on the New York Jets, it’s been a long time since they’ve had somebody this prominent under center for them.
JM – I still think the Bills are the team to beat in that division, but the Jets are definitely going to be better.
CS – 100%. Knocking on the door in the AFC East.
JM – Absolutely. And of course, you’ve got the Giants. I don’t know what to expect from them this year, to be honest with you. They play in a very tough division. And the other teams all got better.
CS – They did. They have questions with Saquon, I know Daniel Jones. Was he better last year? Yes. Does he still have a receiver? No.
They picked up Darren Waller at tight end. But I just don’t see how somebody…Daniel Jones is too erratic for me. I see an eight and eight or a seven and nine season at best for them.
