Top 3 Reasons For the New York Rangers Not To Worry
Despite the Game One loss to the Florida Panthers, there are three great reasons the New York Rangers (and their fans) need not worry.
Make no mistake – this Panthers team is legit. They’re well coached, they have a strong goaltender, and it was readily apparent that they are tough enough to come into Madison Square Garden and pitch a shutout in the opening game of this series.
Reason One – the New York Rangers Offense
Forget the shutout in Game One. The Rangers have already won eight games this postseason and in six of those wins, they scored at least four goals.
So being a little flat (that’s an understatement) in front of the home crowd at the Garden on Wednesday night, their performance thus far in the postseason should give you something to give you some confidence for Friday night’s second game of the series.
Reason Two – Igor Shesterkin
Through the first two round of the playoffs, Shesterkin’s save percentage is .923. Put Wednesday night’s game in the rearview mirror and forget about it.
Reason Three – the Rangers Depth
The matchups for the first line may give the Panthers an advantage, but when you get to the second, third, and fourth lines, the feeling here is that the Rangers’ depth is a decided advantage.
Cause for concern after Wednesday’s loss? Absolutely.
Panic-button time? Hardly.
