1st Round NFL Draft – How the New York Jets and New York Giants Picked
The 2024 NFL Draft kicked off (pun intended) in Detroit last night with the New York Giants and New York Jets having the 6th and 10th picks respectively.
Both teams came into this year’s draft with MAJOR question marks at the quarterback position.
For the Giants, Daniel Jones has been a bit of a disappointment, and is coming off an injury.
The Jets have their own issues with Aaron Rodgers trying to come back at the age of 40 from an Achilles tendon rupture that happened just a handful of plays into the 2023 season.
And then, there was the trade of Zach Wilson and the “touching” farewell Tweet by the Jets on Tuesday.

Exactly what are we supposed to be thanking Zach for?
New York Giants 1st Round Pick
Picking 6th, the Giants went with LSU Wide Receiver Malik Nabors.
That choice means a couple of things – for one, Daniel Jones can relax a bit, knowing that the team didn’t take a quarterback in the first round.
For another, it means that Jones has a legit offensive weapon to throw to because Nabors is the type of player who could have an impact right from the start.
New York Jets First Round Pick
The Jets originally had the #10 pick but opted to trade down to #11 and picked Penn State Offensive Tackle Olu Fashanu.
Like the Giants, the Jets could have opted for a quarterback to play behind Aaron Rodgers. Instead, they went with someone they feel can give Rodgers some protection.
NFL Draft – Quarterbacks
This year’s draft featured three top collegiate quarterbacks and it was no surprise how quickly they went in the first round.
- #1 – The Chicago Bears chose Caleb Williams from USC
- #2 – The Washington Commanders went with Jayden Daniels from LSU
- #3 – The New England Patriots took Drake Maye from North Carolina
