Awesome Father’s Day Rock Songs – Creedence Clearwater Revival-Someday Never Comes
Father’s Day is coming. Be sure you plan on spending a little time with Dad if you can. Let’s take a look at some songs that are fitting for the holiday. This is Awesome Father’s Day Rock Songs – Part 2: CCR, Someday Never Comes
Creedence Clearwater Revival is a band that doesn’t get enough love. They were only around for a short period, but put out a slew of hits and well-known songs. John Fogerty and company didn’t disappoint and man, could they write catchy tunes?
This song is from the 1972 album Mardi Gras and Fogerty has stated that he kind of wrote it about his own parents and the divorce he went through. It’s easily the best song on that album. And it’s clear why – there’s so much emotion behind it. It’s a simple song too, just verse, chorus, verse, chorus etc…..no big breakdown or buildup. It’s all in the lyrics.
We all kind of go through this. When we’re young we ask why or try to make sense of things that happen in life and an adult will say to us someday you’ll understand. But unfortunately, that day never comes. We don’t get why a choice was made or why something had to happen the way it did.
You can hear John Fogerty singing to his parents in this one. Looking for an answer, knowing one will never come. In a way though, the song is kind of comforting…….we’re all in this together for the most part. Seeking answers that won’t come. Life sometimes just happens and we’re left wondering why it happened a certain way.
So maybe this Father’s Day we can take some advice from this tune. And of course, if your Dad is available, you could sit with him for a bit and pick his brain for advice. They usually have a bunch. You just need to listen!
