TC loved meeting Dexter
TC collectionWDHA's Rock N' Ruff has a PAWFECT guy this week! Meet DEXTER! From The Denville Animal Shelter- Dexter is a young pup- just about 5 months old and came to the shelter with his sister Morgan, two great puppies with so much to offer.
Both are waiting for their forever homes- and both pups are fantastic. As you can see in our Rock N' Ruff video, Dexter is such an affectionate pup, who just wants to meet, greet, kiss, and hang with you. He's an absolute love! Dexter and Morgan are both up for adoption via my good friend Meredith Petrillo at The Denville Animal Shelter (I've adopted twice from the shelter and so have many WDHA staffers). Dexter is very engaged in his human companions, SUPER DUPER friendly, very smart, aims to please, and is already housebroken! For a young pup that is awesome!
Dexter appears to be a Hound/Lab mix and has the most beautiful golden eyes that will melt your heart. he is a truly joyful dog. Perfect energy and as with any younger dog, will need someone who can give this pup the time he deserves.
Dexter would also love a companion to play with so if you have another dog, set up a meet and greet. An older brother or sister would be awesome for him. Check out Dexter's Rock N' Ruff video below and listen for his spot on WDHA. He's a total rockstar rescue pup!

5 Pet Friendly Places That Rock In NJ Pt. 1
Pet Friendly- Two words I love! Spending time with our best furry friends is epic, not only for them but for us too. I love doing things with my pup Rosie. Losing two dogs in just under two years taught me how limited our time is with them.
Whether they are older or young, you just never know how much time you have with your dog, and with close to 45% of American Households having at least 1 dog as part of the family, it would make sense to have the business community recognizing that dogs are a part of our daily routines.
There are quite a few great places to head with your pet, for a variety of activities so as we move into the summer months, I decided to put together a list per month with some "pawsome", highly rated and recommended spots for New Jersey Dog Lovers.
WHAT IS "PET FRIENDLY"?
Pretty simple- "An establishment allowing patrons to bring their pets".
However, as pet humans, we also need to respect the landscape of rules and behaviors of other patrons, to push the cause forward to allowing more pets in more places! If your dog barks incessantly at other dogs or humans, public places may not be the best outings for your dog and can be stressful for not only your pup, but for you and others as well.
I know the places that Rosie Carr excels in and that's usually where we head. She can be loud, and I am always aware of that! Basically- "Know The Room" and act accordingly.
So get ready to check out some cool new "Pet Friendly" places for May to check out with your pup. Everywhere from eateries, to breweries, to museums! And please, if you have a pet-friendly establishment that you think I should include, email me at TC@WDHAFM.COM and send me your thoughts. (and your photos!) Click the links below the name of each pet-friendly place for their website-

Jersey Girl Brewing - Sand Shore Rd- Mt. Olive
Jersey Girl Brewing is extremely pet friendly, has fantastic award winning craft brews, a huge space with 10k feet inside and over 8k outside, and plenty of room for everyone including our pups. They host fantastic events (can host your event too!) and have even welcomed animal shelters to host adoption events. Pretty cool! Drinking with our dogs? Sign me and Rosie up! Check out their event calendar and all they have to offer.
Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum- 500 Forrestal Rd- Cape May
I have a friend who is wild about aviation and told me about this place. He discovered the museum while staying in Cape May during a rainy spell. He was shocked that they allowed dogs and absolutely raves about the museum, it's military history, beautiful memorials and friendly appeal. This 501C3 operated gem is supported by grants and the public and is a must see experience if you are in the southern portion of the state. They host fantastic educational events and welcome our furry friends too.
Boonton Coffee Company- 602 Main Street- Boonton
Fantastic Coffee, First Class Entertainment and Fido Friendly? What could be better?! Boonton Coffee Company welcomes not only coffee lovers, but music lovers with their "Listening Room" , "Presents Series" and "First Friday Songwriters Series" so check out their events calendar.
And their Coffee blends are out of this world! PLUS they are very welcoming to pets, I've been told their staff is incredible- because come on....we all know best friends and baristas go hand in hand!
Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza - Rt. 23 - Wayne
Anthony's has GREAT Pizza (their roasted cauliflower topped pie is my favorite!) and the Wayne location has a yummy pet friendly patio that is perfect for doggie diners! I stopped by with Rosie and the staff was so great with her (and she was well behaved with a taste of crust!) as I ate my way through pizza, eggplant and their yummy pasta dishes. We are going back for sure.....
