New Jersey: Yankees And Mets Are Among The 2023 Top Selling Jerseys

That's officially a wrap on the 2023 Major League Baseball season. To reflect on the year in baseball Yahoo Sports recently detailed the best-selling Major League jerseys, and players from both the New York Yankees and Mets made the list.

One-fifth of the list are Braves jerseys. The all-stars who are featured for having top-selling gear, include some  obvious big names. Shohei Ohtani from the Anaheim Angels is number one, of course. With his unprecedented skill-set, and global stardom, Ohtani, even with injury, is a well-deserved spectacle everywhere he goes. Then, among the 20 are superstars like Elly Del La Cruz (#16), the San Diego Padres' Fernando Tatis Jr. (#4), and Los Angeles Dodgers' Mookie Betts (#5).

A very interesting detail to note is that only Corey Seager from the World Series champion Texas Rangers made the list. In fact, from the final four 2023 teams, only Alex Bregman (#9) and Jose Altuve (#6) joined Seager. Apparently, no jerseys from the runner-up Arizona Diamondbacks were among the highest sellers. Surprisingly, the same holds true for the National League semi-finalist, Philadelphia Phillies.

The Yankees were joined by Adley Rutschman of the Baltimore Orioles and Vladimir Guerrero Jr., from Toronto Blue Jays as the American League East. The Mets and the Atlanta Braves were the two teams from the National League East.

In total, the Atlanta Braves were the team best represented with the top-selling jerseys of the year. That Atlanta faithful have not changed their uniforms since 1987, aside from alternate jerseys and minor tweaks. In addition to the Houston Astros, the San Diego Padres, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Anaheim Angels each had two jerseys among the year's best-sellers. California is certainly well-represented.

As for the New York teams, arguably their two biggest baseball stars still have promotional power. Judge and Lindor are the faces of their franchises, and there is high hope they lead the turnarounds in the 2024 season.
