Jersey Magazine 9-18-22
Each week on the Jersey Magazine we pick topics of local interest to our listeners. This week, Jim Monaghan talks with Dr. Greg Spats from Resilient Performance Physical Therapy in Chatham and Elizabeth Roithmayr-Clemens the New Jersey Executive Director for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
September means back-to-school and back to fall sports for many students. In some cases, athletes are either playing multiple sports in the fall, or they’re playing on multiple teams. Dr. Greg Spatz from Resilient Performance Physical Therapy in Chatham talks about how to keep our kids healthy and on the playing field, and what parents should be looking for when their child starts to show early signs of an injury.
September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. As you may know, suicide is the 12th leading cause of death in the United States.
Elizabeth Roithmayr-Clemens is the Executive Director, New Jersey for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The organization does amazing work in helping to prevent suicide including a number of “Out of the Darkness” fundraising walks in New Jersey during the fall months. WDHA’s Terrie Carr will be participating in the Essex County walk on October 30.
This week, Rock N’ Ruff introduces us to Sam the Shepherd. Sam stopped by to visit us at WHDA and is a fun loving, easy going and joyous dog! Found wandering the streets in Philadelphia, Sam wasn’t in great shape, but that didn’t affect his amazing rock-star personality. After landing at Sedona Shepherd Sanctuary and getting some TLC, Sam is ready for his new home.
Sam is 7 years old, great on a leash, likes other dogs and appears to be a pup that would do well with just about any family. AND he has great Shepherd energy and loves to walk and play with toys.
COACH SHEETS’ RIDE IN – Jeremy Sheetinger is the head baseball coach at Georgia Gwinnett College where he led the Grizz Gang to the 2021 NAIA National Championship. His weekly “fire me up” tweet every Thursday may, on the surface, be geared toward his fellow baseball coaches, but his motivational message can easily be applied to the classroom, workplace, and your personal relationships. This morning, Coach Sheets talks about the dangers of trying to win in the Court of Popular Opinion (spoiler – you can’t).

This old adage still rings true:
Haters gonna hate. Ballers gonna ball.
We are never going to win the “court of public opinion” so why try?
Ballers have enough confidence & courage to act on their own thoughts!
