Almost from the moment their debut album was released, America hit the top of both the album and singles charts.
Original members Gerry Beckley, Dewey Bunnell, and Dan Peak all met in high school in London as the sons of American military personnel stationed in England. Some of their earliest shows were as the opening act for the Who and Elton John.
With America celebrating its 50th anniversary and a new solo album Five Mile Road out, founding member Gerry Beckley called into WDHA to chat with Jim Monaghan about the band, his new album, and more.
