Jersey Magazine 11-27-22
Each week on the Jersey Magazine we pick topics of local interest to our listeners. This week, Jim Monaghan talks with Kathleen Humphrey, the Event Manager for Homeless Solutions, and replays his interview with Dr. Julie on how to eat healthy this holiday season.
Kathleen Humphrey is the Event Manager for Homeless Solutions, a Morris County-based organization providing shelter, services and supportive housing to homeless and low-income people.
On Friday December 9, they are holding their third annual “A Night In the Cold.” You’re asked to sleep out for one night to help raise awareness and funds for our homeless neighbors in need.
It’s open to all ages! You can participate as an individual or team with friends, family, colleagues, sports teams or volunteer groups.
Where and how you participate is up to you. You can spend the night in a car, a tent, or a sleeping bag. Last year, some of our participants chose to sleep on their kitchen or garage floor. The choice is yours.
Welcome to “National Eating Season” – that time between Halloween and New Year’s Day chock full of social events, high-calorie food, and plenty of opportunities to indulge.
Health and wellness expert Dr. Julie is back to help us sort through this festive time of year and remind us that we can enjoy the coming holiday season and still keep our health goals on track over these next couple of months.
This week on Rock N’ Ruff, we welcome Cash from the Randolph Regional Animal Shelter. Cash is fun, athletic, affectionate, goofy & he loves to play ball! Cash is friendly with everyone, knows some basic commands & seems to bond quickly to the people he knows. He walks well on a leash and is a perfect passenger in a car. Cash has quickly become a staff & volunteer favorite at the shelter!
COACH SHEETS’ RIDE IN – Jeremy Sheetinger is the head baseball coach at Georgia Gwinnett College where he led the Grizz Gang to the 2021 NAIA National Championship. His weekly “fire me up” tweet every Thursday may, on the surface, be geared toward his fellow baseball coaches, but his motivational message can easily be applied to the classroom, workplace, and your personal relationships. This week, Coach Sheets talks about having an attitude of gratitude during this time of thanksgiving.
