5 Rock Holiday Tunes To Add To Your Collection This Season
Many of us love Holiday music. For some, waiting until the week of Christmas is what you do. Or others, As soon as Thanksgiving ends, your playlist is filled with Holiday tunes and you’re ready to rock them at any moment!
I think what makes holiday songs so fun and special for listeners is the fact that many of them are inspiring. They touch us….move us…..maybe even pick us up when we’re feeling like garbage. There are also fun ones that provide and outlet for us to feel like kids again. The way we were when we came down the stairs early in the morning and headed for the tree to see if Santa left us our favorite toy or video game!
For those of us with kids, it’s also pretty cool that so many songs have lasting appeal. Whether they are the traditional originals or new hip covers, it’s fun to share the happiness a Holiday tune provides with our children.
And of course, what Christmas party is complete without holiday tunes. Don’t forget DHA will be bringing you our Non-Stop Rockin' Christmas to keep the party going! So, keep it locked on your favorite station to hear your Christmas favorites.
I thought what might be fun today was to take a look at some cool Christmas tunes from rocking bands that you might not be as familiar with. Whether it’s their own spin on a holiday classic or a brand new entry into the Christmas catalog, maybe one of these will make your playlist this season and get you either feeling positive and hopeful….or just like a kid again. Maybe even both!!!
With so many, and I do mean sooooooooo many holiday songs to choose from, this is just a really small list of some cool ones to check out. I invite you to go out and find your own favorites. And again, keep 105.5 WDHA on your radio or smart speaker for our Non-Stop Rockin’ Christmas.
Here’s some cool tracks that might make your holiday playlist:
O HOLY NIGHT - WEEZER
Starting of slow and mellow, this one gets the Weezer treatment and it feels so good!
ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTAMS IS YOU - MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE
It's hard to keep that edge while trying to have fun at the same time. Hell, it's even harder to cover Mariah Carey, but MCR manage to do a bang up job!
CHRISTMAS TIME (DON'T LET THE BELLS END) - THE DARKNESS
This is just a fun band. They have such a cool sound at this one was released near the peak of their popularity - it sounds awesome!
JINGLE BALLS - KORN
Alright, so this one isn't as fun. But you at least have to hear KORN do a death metal version of this classic. Unique to say the least!
RUN RUDOLPH RUN - LEMMY, BILLY GIBBONS, DAVE GROHL
Yep, it's as fun as it sounds. With that raspy voice and cool drumming from Grohol - this one is a great rendition of an already awesome Christmas tune!
5 Of WDHA’s Coolest Exclusive Unplugged Performances Of 2023 (VIDEO)
Hey Friends,
Happy (unplugged) Thanksgiving! At WDHA we have two Turkey Day Traditions.
It's Terrie Carr, and as far back as I can remember, WDHA has offered some sort of acoustic performances as part of Thanksgiving programming. AND we always give up a few servings of Alice's Restaurant. This year we are ready and it's going to be an epic day of programming! Let's reflect on 5 of WDHA's coolest, exclusive Unplugged Performances from this past year as the more amazing stripped down performances that we give our listeners exclusively, the more we have to choose from every Thanksgiving (and whenever we feel like a deconstructed versions of some of our favorite rockers).
I look back and think about some of my favorite WDHA in studio and on location performances and I remember the glorious times they came from. Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora, Paul Rodgers and Bad Company, the incredible Warren Haynes, Kings X, Peter Frampton, Alter Bridge, Rival Sons....the list is massive!
I decided to post 5- 2023 WDHA Parking Lot Party Performances that were fine acoustic rocking - stripped down, deconstructed, bare bones performances. Love it.
Please join us Thursday, 11/23- Thanksgiving Day from 6a-6p for some cool versions of classic and new rockers and everything in between. We have you covered from artists the 1970's thru today. Exactly what the Rock Of New Jersey does best. We remember the history of the past without getting stuck there!
As always, we give thanks to you our WDHA listening family and while we may not sit at the same dinner table, we ALWAYS sit down at the same rock table and break our rock and roll bread together. Check out Jim Monaghan, me, (TC) and Mike Anthony on Thanksgiving serving up your favorite rock!
Happy Thanksgiving! All the best to you and yours!
Terrie Carr
Plush- Heaven's On Fire (Kiss Cover)
Asking Alexandria- Psycho
Jared James Nichols- Mississippi Queen (Mountain Cover)
