Talking World Series On the Jolt With Mike Sheppard Jr
When Morris County native Rick Porcello takes the mound for the Boston Red Sox in Game 3 of the World Series tonight in Los Angeles against the Dodgers, one of the people who will be closely watching here in New Jersey will be Mike Sheppard Jr.
It wasn’t that long ago that Mike had Porcello on the mound as a high school pitcher for Seton Hall Prep where Mike has been the head baseball coach for more than three decades, guiding teams to dozens of conference and New Jersey state titles.
Mike called into the WDHA Morning Jolt to chat about Rick, the success of the SHP baseball program and more.
Mike Sheppard Jr. is literally part of baseball royalty in New Jersey. His dad, Mike Sheppard, was head coach at Seton Hall University for 30 years, leading the Pirates to 10 NCAA Tournaments and 2 College World Series appearances. His brother Rob is the current SHU head coach, his other brother John is the head baseball coach at Morristown-Beard, and his brother-in-law Ed Blankmeyer is the head baseball coach at St. John’s University in Queens.
