Jersey Magazine 9-5-21
This morning, Jim Monaghan has two interview segments on WDHA’s Jersey Magazine – Matthew Bocchi, who lost his father on 9/11, and Dr. Julie Gatza with some food tips to help you with your BBQing this Labor Day Weekend.
Want to make sure you don’t come away from your Labor Day BBQ with that uncomfortable bloated feeling? Jim Monaghan chats with Dr. Julie about some tips you can use to make sure you (and your tummy) have an enjoyable grilling experience this holiday weekend.
Matthew Bocchi was just nine years old on September 11, 2001, the last day he saw his father alive. Following the attacks on the World Trade Center, he began an obsessive quest to find out exactly how his father had died. He researched video tapes, pictures, blogs, anything that could potentially answer a question loomed in his mind: was his father one of the jumpers?
Matt published his first book, Sway, in September 2020. The book has just come out in paperback. It’s the first memoir told by a child of 9/11, and Matt intimately delves into the psychological and emotional torment that ensued after his father’s death. Matt’s heartbreaking story includes sexual abuse at the hands of a relative, and a downward spiral into years of drug abuse.
Now 29 years old and sober, Matt shared his message of hope and resilience with Jim Monaghan and John Hodorovych on the WDHA Morning Jolt last September. This is a replay of that interview.
