What Is Your Ultimate Live Show For The Summer Concert Season?

When Summer is on the way, I get excited because I know so many great bands will be touring and hopefully stopping in New Jersey for a live performance. There are festivals, metal acts, classic rockers, queens of noise, and everything in between that you can check out.
This Summer is no exception. There are a ton of great shows. A ton!! So, I’m curious what you consider to be the ultimate summer show? I don’t know if I have one in particular. However, I can say this – I’m a big metal head. I love classic Maiden and Priest and Metallica. I also love more modern acts like Sevendust, Avenged Sevenfold, and Slipknot.
That being said, it might surprise you to come to find out that one of summertime show I would recommend to anyone would have to be Dave Matthews Band. Yep, DMB! I know, I know…. how can this so-called metalhead enjoy the jam band sound of Dave and company? Well, for one-I’m a drummer. So right there, watching Carter Beauford play is just awe-inspiring. He looks so passionate and enthusiastic while he plays. There’s an effortlessness to it and it pushes me as a drummer. Does that make it the ultimate Summer concert? Maybe not, but it sure is exciting!
Besides the drumming aspect, it’s just feel-good music that works perfectly in the summer. And if you’re someone that thinks “Dave doesn’t rock hard enough for me.” I understand. But I would still recommend grabbing a ticket to see the band. These are world class musicians. A horn section, keyboardist, the guitar work from Dave….It’s all masterful.
I’ll be there at PNC Bank Arts Center on July 18th. Hopefully I’ll see you there too. But if not, I’m wondering what’s one show you consider to be the ultimate summer concert?
