Florida Woman Probably Should Learn How To Use Her GPS Better
It’s Florida Man Strikes Again! In this case, it’s Florida Woman, and it appears that she needs some assistance in how to use her car’s GPS for directions.
DATELINE – Orlando FL.
First, a little history. No doubt you’ve heard of Wrong Way Corrigan. Douglas Corrigan, who in 1938 flew from the west coast – Long Beach, California, to New York city, decided he was going to fly back home to Long Beach and and somehow ended up in Dublin.
Bad navigation? I don’t know.
At any rate, he earned the nickname Wrong Way Corrigan. Well, as people were driving along Interstate 4 near downtown Orlando earlier this week, another motorist managed to drive at least 8 miles in the wrong direction before clipping a Florida trooper’s patrol vehicle.
There was a TV news crew that was traveling on I-4 eastbound when they noticed a white Toyota Corolla drive by going westbound…in the eastbound lane.
According to 911 call logs and the Florida Highway Patrol reports, it appears the wrong way driver, ultimately identified as a 48-year old woman from Arizona – listen, when in Florida, do as the Floridians do, I guess – traveled at least 8 miles in the wrong directionwi thin a time span of about 15 minutes.
911 calls reporting the wrong way driver at about 10:23, and then they were still getting calls.
Minutes later, Florida Highway Patrol said one of its troopers spotted the wrong way driver and veered in front of the vehicle to try to stop it. Well, the driver of the wrong-way vehicle clipped the side of the trooper’s vehicle before crashing into a palm tree.
Now, luckily, although both were taken to the hospital, the police officer as well as this woman driving the wrong direction, both taken to the hospital, but injuries said not to be life threatening.
And whether it’s Florida Woman or Wrong Way Corrigan, it’s certainly not the first time in history that someone’s gone in the wrong direction.
