This past Friday, Sum 41 released their 8th and final album Heaven X Hell. It’s a double disc that has all sorts of different sounds and textures to it. But the question...
Is the new Sum 41 album Worth Your Time and Money?
It was announced a while back that Sum 41 would be recording their final album. And while they haven’t had the level of success they saw when they first hit the scene, I was bummed because they’ve actually been putting out solid albums for a while.
Progressively adding in more and more tones of metal with their punk stylings. It sounded awesome. Well, this album is a true return to form.
But also, shows how the band has evolved and become more than a pop-punk band. See, that’s where the two discs come into play. One disc has them returning to their original sound, while the other showcases their metal leanings on their more recent releases. And it’s done so well.
The New Sum 41 album opening track on Disc 1 “Heaven,” “Waiting On A Twist Of Fate” sounds intense but poppy, kind of like modern Blink 182. Great drumming and cool upbeat riffs. Even their single “Landmines” is a lot of fun. Fast, up-tempo, and in your face. It’s melodic and catchy and will have you humming it for days.
On the “Hell” side of things, “Rise Up” is a great example of how they blend metal and punk with a darker sound, but still filled with energy. They even do an amazing cover of the Stones’ “Paint It Black.”
It works so well on this album. If this is how they’re going out, it’s an album to be proud of. So, is the new Sum 41 album worth your time and money? Yes! It’s got plenty of awesome songs and is very infectious!

5 Funny Rock Music Videos
Today is April Fool’s Day. I’ve never been a fan, despite the fact that I love to laugh. Pranks that people play today are usually either hurtful or just dumb and unfunny. I did think about playing a bunch of rap music when I came on air this afternoon, but again, that’s not really funny, and so, I’ll leave the humor to the comedians. What it did make me think of was funny videos. Not pranks or animals wearing whacky clothes, but rather rock music videos. I thought we could look at 5 Funny Rock Music Videos For April Fool’s Day.
I love going over videos. So many of them have great performances or tell a really cool story. Or some, just have exciting imagery that makes you think and wonder even more what the lyrics are about. But let’s not forget – there’s also funny rock videos too! This could be through a story that takes place throughout the songs, or just on-camera antics that cut in and out through the music video.
Either way, there’s been some good ones throughout the years. Rock hasn’t always been known for that. In fact, especially early on in the 80’s on MTV, you were almost sure to find a cool rock tune with a video of a good-looking female model caressing herself and dancing around half naked to the song. It really had nothing to do with the music, but as they say….sex, drugs, and rock and roll.
As things have progressed, bands have become really interesting in their approach to videos. There are some comical ones. I even like ones that are just plain fun. For a good example on what I mean by that, look no further than the always intriguing OK GO music videos.
For now though, let’s take a look at 5 Funny Rock Music Videos For April Fool’s Day.
Fall Out Boy - Thnks fr th Mmrs
The band is being bossed around by a group of monkeys. They're actually producing the video. It's pretty funny stuff.
Foo Fighters - Big Me
One of the earliest Foo Fighters videos. This one was a play on the old Mentos commercials. Dave and company did a great job and had us all laughing!
Weezer - Pork and Beans
This one is filled with YouTube memes. Those funny moments we all love from some classic footage. Plus it's a great Weezer song.
Blink 182 - What's My Age Again
Blink likes to have fun. There's no disputing that. And this video is them running around naked, causing a ruckus.
Twisted Sister - We're Not Gonna Take It
A classic. Twisted Sister knew how to have a good time. This rockin' video is funny to this day.
