According To Jersey, All Ozzy Music Rocks
Ozzy’s had a massive career. He fronted one of the biggest metal/rock bands of all time- Black Sabbath! He then somehow managed to pull off a long solo career jam-packed with hits and awesome albums. But what do Jersey fans prefer? According to Jersey, All Ozzy music rocks!
First Call Last Call: Ozzy Music
I recently posted a Question Of The Day for First Call Last Call regarding OZZY. I was asking if people leaned toward his solo music or his time with Sabbath. And while things were somewhat split. There were also so many answers suggesting that anything he does or did, just plain rocks!
When you think about fronting a band that was one of the pioneers of heavy metal, that’s a massive amount of pressure. But Ozzy pulled it off. Black Sabbath released so many wonderful albums. Their ability to experiment with different sounds and even different song types are what gave them lasting appeal all these years later. Think about their albums – Paranoid alone is like a best-of album LOL! They were able to churn out some great music.
When Ozzy split from the band, it was kind of hard to know if he would be successful on his own. But man, did he surround himself with more great musicians. And those early songs were heavy and fun. Dark, yet melodic. There was some great stuff. And by the 90’s his sound had changed a bit, but it was just as awesome. He somehow brought metal to the masses and it was done so well!
His antics on stage, and later his reality TV show career probably helped more fans grow to love him. But when you look at all the music that he was part of, it’s hard to pick between his solo material or Black Sabbath tunes.
We love Ozzy at DHA and here in Jersey. And we look forward to more amazing songs !!
Top 5 Soundgarden Songs According To New Jersey Fans
Soundgarden had such great music. I can’t believe they broke up in 1997.
But I wanted to take a look at The Top 5 Soundgarden Tracks according to New Jersey Fans. It’s hard to pick the best, but these were some favorites among our listeners here at the Rock of New Jersey.
I have a feature on my show called First Call Last Call where I play a themed block of music for the ride home at 5 pm. Before that, at around 4, I post a Question of The Day to the WDHA Facebook page.
Since yesterday was the anniversary of Soundgarden’s break up I thought, let’s ask for the listener’s favorite Soundgarden songs!
The band did reunite in 2010 and put out one more album called “King Animal.” It was a really good release, sounding just like classic Soundgarden, but I wanted to focus the set on everything pre-breakup. They had such a unique sound.
Look, we can argue over who the greatest rock singer is or was, but let’s be honest, Chris Cornell has to be in the Top 20 if not really high on that list.
His voice was so powerful and he had such an amazing range. That couple with Kim Thayil’s playing and unique sound, Ben on bass, and Matt Cameron doing some cool drums, it was a recipe for success.
Although they often got lumped into that 90’s grunge scene, I kind of feel like they had their own unique sound. It was rock mixed with metal and featured a lot of odd sounds and strange experimentation. And it worked really well. Even before the Badmotorfinger record, the early stuff was awesome too.
But what do DHA listeners think? Let’s take a look at the songs that got the most responses for my question yesterday.
Here’s The Top 5 Soundgarden Songs according to New Jersey Fans!
Mike is all about having fun each afternoon. He brings you concert tickets, some fun trivia, and of course the best bands. Other interests outside of being at WDHA are drums, movies, and my family. Also, like most radio personalities, he loves live music. There's nothing like a live show to hype him up! His all-time favorite band is Metallica. But according to him, the list of others is pretty lengthy.
