We love special guests on Metal With The Mikes. Metal Icon Kerry King Checks In To Talk New Solo album. You know him of course as a master songwriter, providing the riffage for Slayer for years. He’s a badass, a legend, and has a solo album that you don’t want to miss!
“From Hell I Rise” Comes out tomorrow (Friday) and man does it have some killer tracks on there. It’s a powerful record with angst-ridden tunes and heavy-as-all-get-out riffs. Kerry surrounded himself with a virtual who’s who in metal for the musicians on this project.
Mark Osegueda of Death Angel provides the vocals. Former Vio-lence and Machine Head guitarist Phil Demmel rocks the guitar, Hellyeah bassist Kyle Sanders rocks the rhythm section, and Slayer and former Testament, Forbidden and Exodus drummer Paul Bostaph lays down those sick beats.
The album cover looks fantastic….just what you would expect from a Kerry King record. It’s right on brand. We discuss that with him as well as talk about the meanings of some tracks on the album.
We get into how he teamed up with the players on this album and why he decided to put this out, saying “He was never gonna stop!” We talk metal in Europe and hopefully get a Jersey date on the upcoming tour!
What a genuine and talented guy he is. It was an honor to talk to the man who has provided so many classic riffs into the world of metal music. He really is a powerhouse and is tremendous to watch live. So hopefully more dates will be added to the upcoming tour where he and the guys will make a stop in Jersey! We have our fingers crossed for that to happen!
How about you take a listen to the interview and jam out loud and heavy with us tomorrow night on Metal With The Mikes beginning at 11 pm!
5 Killer New Rock Tunes You Need To Check Out NOW
5 Killer New Rock Tunes You Need To Check Out -NOW - I love writing new music stories!
Every few weeks, I hit up a list of killer new tunes or new artists that are just too good to ignore. This week's list is particularly awesome with the new Highly Suspect, a fantastic female vocalist who blends metal and country! (YUP) and more. And, the truly inspiring thing here - is not one band on the list sounds like any of the others in this top 5 list.
Some of these artists you may know, some you will discover. All different and all rocking.
Why Are Killer NEW Rock Tunes Important?
We all know what music does for us and let's face it, as much as we love the classics that have traveled so many roads with us, there is nothing more invigorating as a music fan than discovering a new favorite, that you simply cannot stop listening to. New music discovery feeds the soul.
WDHA has always been committed to introducing our audience to new artists- For almost 50 years!
I remember the first time I "heard" Def Leppard on the station (I wasn't working here, but LOVED WDHA, from Junior High on!) and the first time I played bands like Nirvana, Shinedown, and Godsmack on The Rock Of New Jersey.
It's so exciting for the station to be a part of an artist's journey and even more exciting to be the outlet to help fans "discover" bands that become their new favorites- That's our job!
Check out more of my WDHA rock interviews discussing new music being made by some of our rock favorites- and Rock On Friends!

Tim Montana - Savage
A tune that Tim suggests you listen to- "EXCEPTIONALLY LOUD"! And I couldn't agree more. Tim Montana is an emerging star who has a distinct ability to combine heavy and melody, dark and light, serious and fun with a tinge os Southern Rock and great storytelling. The album "Savage" is out July 12th and the video is a psychedelic trip! I can't wait for more.
Wage War- Magnetic
Out of Florida, Wage War is quickly becoming one of Metal Music's most exciting new bands.
A song about attraction, "Magnetic" is a melodic, BIG song, taking this band to the next level. I remember seeing them on our 2022 WDHA Rock The Rock Fest bill and thinking- "These guys got it"!
Royale Lynn (Featuring Danny Worship Of Asking Alexandria) - Death Wish
What do you get when you cross a female rocker with a country vibe and a metal lean and add a bit of Asking Alexandria with a guest vocal slot from Danny Warsnop? You get "Death Wish" - A powerful tune from "Royale Lynn", - You know I am inspired to discover fantastic female talent and Royale Lynn has the chops. Described by Billboard as “a ferocious newcomer with ceiling-scraping vocals", her country, metal combination is perfection!
Tuk Smith and The Restless Hearts- Glorybound
He's a rockstar, producer and super unique artist who hails from Georgia, (but rocking in Nashville with his band) Tuk Smith (pronounced TUCK), and The Restless Hearts are awesome. I've been a fan of Tuk since the bands released their 2022 debut album "Ballad Of A Misspent Youth", Tuk is a rockstar and phenomenal guitar player whose swagger and stage presence combined with hooky rock, pop, punk, guitar driven fun makes me wonder- "When Is This Band Going To Be HUGE"?
Highly Suspect- Summertime Voodoo
Highly Suspect fans- the band is back to their wicked guitar ways and I LOVE IT! "Summertime Voodoo" is a bluesy, jamming, guitar masterpiece that brings me back to my initial love for this dark, mysterious band of super talented musicians. I love Johnny Steven's vocals too and the "trippy dippy" vibe is perfect for summer and his guitar reminds me of Robin Trower, meets Pat Travers, meets HIGHLY SUSPECT! So Good! The new album is called "As Above, So Below" and coming our way on July 19th.
