The Princess and the Frog Meet Gumby and Pokey
This week on Fuzzy’s Fractured Fairy Tales, Michael Fuzzy Lee takes on the tale of The Princess and the Frog. Once Gumby and Pokey make an appearance, all bets are off.
Any resemblance between today’s episode and the story you remember as a child is purely coincidental.
The sound you hear is Walt Disney and Art Clokey spinning in their respective graves.
The Princess and the Frog Meet Gumby and Pokey
ANNOUNCER – It’s time to listen to one of our favorite magical stories. Erm, well, sort of.
It’s Fuzzy’s Fractured Fairy Tales on the WDHA Morning Jolt.
FUZZY – It’s time to jump into another fun-filled fracturing episode of The Princess and the Frog – the Excellent Cook.
Tiana and her father James both loved the cook, so one night Tiana decided to make dinner all by herself.
JAMES – Oh, Tiana, I’m starving, so tell me, what’s on the menu for tonight? I hope it’s something good.
TIANA – Oh, Daddy, you’re gonna love this. I found this recipe in the garage. It’s a French cuisine called “comment faire la lessive.”
JAMES – That actually sounds delicious, so tell me, what ingredients did you use to make this soup as I try this for myself?
TIANA – Oh, Daddy, you’re gonna be so proud. It consists of hot water, soapy suds, stained underwear, dirty rags, and your old jockstrap. It’s magnifique!
JAMES – Tiana, honey, can you do me a favor? The next time you make soup, don’t confuse it by reading the French directions of how to do laundry. Those damn French people can make anything sound delicious. How about sticking to gumbo instead? I really don’t feel like burping up soap bubbles anymore.
FUZZY – So the next evening, Tiana surprised her father with a bowl of gumbo as a way to correct her mistake from last night.
TIANA – Here you go, Daddy, your favorite dish. I hope you enjoy it.
JAMES – Wow, thank you, sweetheart. This definitely smells better than that French laundry, but I must say, this gumbo seems quite green and earthy. And why do I see pink in this bowl?
Let me give this a try.
Enter Gumby and Pokey
TIANA – But Daddy, that’s how Gumby is made – with clay and Play-Doh. I felt bad it was just him, so I put his friend, Pokey in there too.
JAMES – Gumby? Oh lord Tiana, you have a lot to learn on how to serve a proper dinner, but I’ll say this, you’re an excellent cook when it comes to poisoning someone.
Did Gumby get permission from his father to get Pokey involved in this?
I guess he did, and not only that, he is supper! Well, at least you did something right today, Tiana.
TIANA – Thanks, Daddy. That’s nice of you to say.
FUZZY – In order for anyone to be a good cook, it does take a little practice. She’ll get there.
I’ll see you guys later.
