Only Florida Man Would Steal A Rolls Royce and Then Rent It Out
Even by Florida Man standards, stealing a ridiculously expensive Rolls Royce and trying to rent it out is a little over-the-top.
FLORIDA MAN STRIKES AGAIN!
DATELINE – North Miami and the Saga of Florida Man Bob Benyo, who had a vehicle stolen from his house, a 2016 purple Rolls Royce, right in front of his home, a few days ago at 3 in the afternoon, there was surveillance footage of this whole thing.
Now, let me set the scene for you here. A couple of years ago, someone I know in Morris County had their car stolen in front of their home. Part of the way they found the car was that the clown who stole it posted a picture on social media of him standing on top of the car. As in, “Look what I did#”
Not smart.
Well, the suspects who reportedly stole the 2016 Rolls were wearing white T-shirts, seen stepping out of a silver Mercedes Benz sedan. I don’t know if they had stolen that vehicle or not as well, but they did break into Benyo’s garage where they found the Rolls Royce keys hanging on the wall.
Hello?
Stolen Rolls Royce an ‘Invasion of Privacy’
Benyo said, “This is a real invasion of privacy. It’s the worst feeling on the planet.” He said that it is one of six Rolls Royces made in that color purple. So it’s going to be kind of hard to hide this.
So, in an effort to find the car, Benyo hired a banner plane to fly above South Florida a day after the theft with a sign that read, “Stolen purple Rolls Royce – reward,” along with his phone number.
Soon after that, he got one hot tip after another. More than 140, as a matter of fact. One of them included a tip that the car was being offered for rent in a chat group on Instagram.
Listen, you’ve just stolen a ridiculously expensive car in a color that’s not very common. “I know what I’ll do. I’m going to put it on Instagram. I’ll offer it out for rent.
Yeah.
Stolen Rolls Royce Was Gift for Man’s Wife
Benyo also has an Aston Martin that he thinks they were targeting as well. The keys were taken out of that car. He left the keys to the Aston Martin in it!
The Rolls, by the way, was a gift for his wife. He said it was an anniversary gift. “I worked my tail off to get the things that I have just to have somebody steal them?”
By the way, Florida has the 7th highest rate of vehicle thefts in the United States. Last year, nearly 46,000 vehicles were stolen in Florida. I’m not sure sure how many of those, though, were posted on Instagram and offered for rent.
