Beware! Florida Man’s Candy May Be More Trick Than Treat
With Halloween tomorrow, parents need to beware shady characters when the kids go on their annual trick or treat candy run.
Especially if they have to deal with someone like this Florida Man.
FLORIDA MAN STRIKES AGAIN!
DATELINE – Brooksville Florida and the Saga of Florida Man Torah Charlson.
According to the sheriff’s office, the residence Charleston was staying at had been under investigation since March. Now, Charlson is a convicted felon, and when deputies knocked on the door, Charlson answered.
Deputies detected an overwhelming smell of marijuana. Deputies said Charlson allegedly admitted, yes, there was marijuana inside the home, but he was not running a grow house.
Charlson also allegedly said he has a roommate, but deputies did not find any evidence of anybody else in the residence.
Again, according to deputies, Charlson then asked if he could collect his items and leave the property. The deputies said, sure, go ahead. That’s when Charleston picked up his car keys and what appeared to be a rolled marijuana joint.
Now, because he had taken possession of the marijuana cigarette right smack in front of the deputies, he was then detained. Deputies got a search warrant, went through the home, discovered what appeared to be candy items, but there was something odd about it.
“But Mom!”
When you were a kid and you would go out for Halloween, did your parents inspect the candy when you got home and immediately throw things out if it didn’t look right?
I know my parents did.
If we got fruit boom!.. Out. “But Mom!” “Out!” If there was something that had been slightly opened or looked as if it had been tampered with, out. “But Mom….” “Out!”
Some of the packaging included popular sweets that were renamed like “Milky Weed,” and the packaging looked exactly like a Milky Way bar, except weed instead of “weed.” The sheriff’s office said, “Many of the drug items were packaged in a way to represent common, everyday candy items similar to the way they would appear in a retail store.”
Florida Man’s Trick or Treat Stash
So, after obtaining a search warrant, here was the deputy’s take – 24.3 pounds of marijuana, 90 pounds of hashish with packaging, 84 Xanax pills, 10oz of powder cocaine, and paraphernalia. Deputies also found a Glock 19 9MM pistol with a 30-round magazine with ammunition, and a Ruger LCR .38 special revolver.
Remember, this guy is a convicted felon.
Charlson remains in the Hernando County Jail bail set at $120,000.
