Setting a car on fire is enough to get you in trouble with the local authorities. But Florida Man added to that with the list of items the police found in his possession that only added to his problems.
FLORIDA MAN STRIKES AGAIN!
DATELINE – West Melbourne and the Saga of Florida Man Peter Simpson. We’ve told you before about Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey. He’s a factor in this story as well.
It’s Simpson, it seems, who was witnessed by deputies driving erratically and then pulling into a parking lot of a hotel. One deputy saw Simpson get out of his car, put on gloves and a face mask, and then walk through the parking lot.
Deputies then saw Simpson crouch down near another vehicle, a white Nissan SUV, which he allegedly set on fire. Simpson then got back into his own car and left the scene.
Deputies weren’t far behind.
They conducted a felony traffic stop. Simpson complied and was taken into custody without incident.
Simpson was found to be in possession of a loaded gun in his pocket. Plus, deputies found another firearm, a rifle, handcuffs, baton and pepper spray in his car.
Subsequent investigation revealed that Simpson is the partial owner of the vehicle he set on fire.
The other owner – a female who was staying at the. Hmm.
Surprised? No, I’m not. Are you?
Simpson refused to answer any questions until he spoke to his attorney. So it says here from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office that in an effort to help Simpson find a phone to call his attorney, they took him to “Ivey’s Iron Bar lounge, which is another way of saying they took him to Sheriff Ivey’s Brevard County office jail.
By the way, the ratings on the jail, according to the press release – “lowest comfort rating possible” and also listed as a “no-frills but plenty of thrills” resort. The food is supposed to be awful as well.
Simpson, by the way, remains in custody.
