Think Twice Before Putting That Illegal Stuff On YouTube
Thanks to technology, we live in a time when we can all be social media stars – do a video, put it on YouTube, and voila!
Instant celebrity!
The problem is that some people simply don’t have a filter, which invariably means that some illegal stuff ends up on social media, which in the end helps the cops track them down.
A perfect example is this morning’s Florida Man who apparently does some fancy tricks while riding an electric motorcycle.
FLORIDA MAN STRIKES AGAIN!
DATELINE – St. Petersburg and the Saga of Florida man Javan Gomes, who was arrested a couple of days ago, charged with fleeing and eluding, racing on the highway and threatening a police officer.
Yesterday, you may recall the lovely Florida couple who were arrested after allegedly of shoplifting from a Lowe’s hardware store. They made it rather easy for the police to find them because on their surveillance video, they were wearing matching Cookie Monster pajamas.
Well, this is kind of along the same lines.
St. Petersburg police detectives say that Gomes was riding an electric motorbike, recklessly popping wheelies through red lights, cutting off cars, traveling on the sidewalk, and then failing to stop when officers tried to pull him over.
Pretty unsafe and dangerous stuff, according to the police.
Now, due to city policy, police officers did not chase Gomes and instead investigated the incident in the following days, calling the neighborhood for eyewitnesses.
Tracking down the suspect
Well, it was rather easy to find Gomez because what this knucklehead did was he posted video of the whole thing on YouTube.
He had a helmet cam on. So all of this stuff running, the red lights, popping wheelies, all of that posted on a now deleted YouTube video.
I guess one positive side to this, at least he wasn’t wearing Cookie Monster pajamas.
