FLORIDA MAN STRIKES AGAIN!
DATELINE - St. Augustine. Floridians are strange. We know that Floridians do things like ask Google, "What do I do if there's a gator in my yard?" We just ask, "How do I fix the toilet?"
They have other issues.
Florida Man is not just a meme. It is not just a Netflix series. It's a whole industry.
Florida Man - we're talking about the kind of guy who would get inside a hamster wheel and attempt to cross the Atlantic ocean as that one guy has done a couple of times, or the kind of person who would throw a live gator into the drive through window at a Wendy's.
Well, if this describes you and you live in Florida, man, and you have four other friends who are just like you, you can apply as a team to represent your county in the upcoming Florida Man Games.
16 teams of Florida men competing in all kinds of different events the weekend of February 24 next year.
According to the website, the Florida Man Games is where the bizarre meets brawn, and sanity is optional. This isn't just a competition. It's a one-of-a-kind Floridian spectacle.
Tickets are $50 for general admission if you want to go watch. And there are VIP tickets, as well. Those include drinks. What a combination that should be access to a climate-controlled VIP area, access to air-conditioned bathroom until November 30 of this year.
To do so, you need to come up with a team name, designate a team leader, identify what county of Florida you're representing, and send a video introducing yourself along with your digital application. You have to be 18 or older to be considered a contestant.
The winning team, by the way, gets $1,000. Some of the contests and events include Weaponized Pool Noodle Mud Duel, the Evading Arrest Obstacle Course where you'll have to jump over fences, through backyards and away from actual police officers to earn your freedom. A Category Five Cash Grab where you subject yourself to category Five wins as you scramble to catch as much real cash as you can. And the Beer Belly Florida Sumo.
