Maybe Florida Man Was Trying To See If the Stolen Airplane Would Surf
Earlier this week, Florida Man was complaining to the police that it wasn’t his fault that “the truck don’t surf” when he was caught driving 15 feet into the Atlantic Ocean.
This morning, Florida Man may be trying to tell the authorities that it’s not his fault that “the plane don’t surf.”
How else can you explain a guy with a stolen airplane, who lands it on a beach, and then simply walks away, leaving the aircraft behind?
The plane, by the way, was an American Champion Citabria 150 and it’s believed that Florida Man was the only one onboard.
FLORIDA MAN STRIKES AGAIN!
DATELINE – Palo Alto, California, and the saga of Florida man Luiz Aires.
Earlier this week, we told you about Florida Man, the truck driving in the ocean along the coastline, got caught by the cops and supposedly said that it wasn’t his fault that “the truck don’t surf.”
Well, Aires is accused of committing grand theft aero. It seems that deputies got a call about a beached plane which kicked off a hunt for the lost aircraft.
Witnesses told the deputies someone landed the plane, got out and walked away.
Well, that, of course, could only be Florida Man.
After a thorough search, according to the authorities, the deputies located a small red and white fixed wing, single engine aircraft on Poplar Beach in Half Moon Bay.
It turns out that the plane, which is owned by a San Mateo based limited liability company, was stolen from the Palo Alto airport. Police later located the man who matched the description of the person who had abandoned the aircraft.
The charges
Aires was booked on suspicion of theft of an airplane. And I love this term, “misappropriation of lost property.”
Yeah, I guess leaving an airplane on the beach might be called misappropriation of lost property. He also left it nose down, by the way.
That must have been one heck of a landing!
