All Florida Man was trying to do was make the streets safe for his fellow drivers.
Except that his 911 call to report a reckless driver ended with him showing a stolen police badge and him under arrest.
You can only begin to imagine what was going through the head of the driver who was pulled over as all of this was being sorted out by the real cops who arrived on the scene.
FLORIDA MAN STRIKES AGAIN!
DATELINE - Pembroke Pines. And the Saga of Florida Man Davonte Thompson, who was driving on the road.
He noticed another motorist driving recklessly. Seeing that there were no police officers around, Thompson decided to take matters into his own hands.
He pulled up next to the other driver, and motioned for him to pull over.
Oh, did I mention that he showed a police badge? Well, of course, the driver did.
Once he had the motorist pulled over, Thompson then called 911 to report that he had pulled over a driver for reckless driving. Well, the 911 operator dispatched officers to the scene, where they proceeded to arrest Thompson for impersonating a police officer.
It turns out not only is Thompson not a cop, but the badge that he had was stolen. It had belonged to a retired sheriff's deputy.
So Thompson arrested for impersonating a police officer. He said, "I just wanted them (meaning the police, to do their job and get them off the streets, meaning the reckless driver.
Listen, it could always be worse. At least Thompson didn't do what a guy in Louisiana did the other day who flashed a badge, pulled over a driver, only to find out that that driver was a deputy chief.
It can always be worse, even for Florida Man.
Consider this the Florida Man version of "no good deed goes unpunished."
